Virginia要求是近一年内拿到的文件。州政府打电话一般不会有人接,但是发邮件回复比较及时。

VA 州的出生证、结婚证、委托书等证件要求是最近一年内颁发的文件。
委托书可以去公证员处公证,或者直接拿到Court处认证,任何一种方式都是可以被州政府接受的。
根据经验,证件类型如护照复印件公证员可能不给公证的,需要去Court处认证,再去州政府。

Why would a document be rejected?
Each Virginia Notary Public has taken an oath of office, in part, stating they will follow a specific set of guidelines when notarizing documents. A Notary acknowledgement can be rejected for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to:
1. not having a proper acknowledgement on each document presented (notarial statement must reflect what is being notarized. i.e. – signature(s) or true copy of an original);
2. the State and city/county where the document is being executed is not indicated;
3. the notary’s registration number is either missing or incorrect;
4. the notary’s expiration date is either missing or incorrect;
5. the notary stamp or seal is either missing or incorrect;
6. the notary did not sign his/her name on notarized document;
7. notarization or issue date on the document is more than 12 months old;
8. document is not dated;
9. the acknowledgement must be in English.

Death Certificate

死亡证明如果是从FUNERAL HOME处拿到的,应该是白色的文件,该文件要求从死亡时间距离州政府的处理时间在4周之内才可以。超出4周时间需要从州政府的Vital Records处申请新的死亡证明,如以下的蓝色版。

1. Secretary – How do I get a Vital Record (Birth, Death, Marriage, or Divorce Certificate) authenticated?

To have your vital record authenticated, it must have been issued by the Virginia Department of Vital Records within the past 12 months. For information on obtaining a copy of a birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificate, please contact Vital Records at (804) 662-6200. Vital record documents should only be signed by a State Registrar or Deputy State Registrar. Notarization of vital records (original or certified copy) is prohibited by Virginia law.

A death certificate issued from the Department of Health (black and white copy) may be submitted for authentication if the death occurred within four weeks of the authentication processing date. After this time, the certificate must be issued through…

2. Secretary-If the document is blue, there is no four-week limit. If the document is white, there would be a four-week limit.

3. Secretary-The decedent passed away on June 20. I obtained the death certificate from the Department of Health in Henrico County (not the Virginia Department of Health) in VA. Do I need to get it certified by the county clerk before submitting it to your office?

You can mail the death certificate as is, issued from the Health Department in Henrico County. County certification is not needed.

4. Vital Record-I’m not entitled to a full certified copy of a death certificate; however, I do have a direct and tangible interest in the certificate.

Only immediate family members are entitled to full certified copies of death certificates. Non-immediate family members can receive a Verification of Death, which includes the decedent’s name, date of death, place of death, date of birth, and the last four digits of the Social Security Number.
